Teacher:

Ann Schwaar

Ann Schwaar has loved singing and dancing since she was a little girl. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago, however, with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. After working at Cook County Hospital's Burn Unit for over three years, Ann had five amazing children and stayed home to home-school them for twenty years. During that time, she continued with her first love of music, leading worship at church for both "big" and "little" people. She sang with and led worship bands, led adult and children's choirs, and wrote and arranged music for both. She also developed classes and directed many musical performances and plays in various home-school groups, including developing materials, and teaching choir, guitar, ukulele, and recorder classes. Her family fell in love with CYT, and as her children took classes, she began teaching with CYT in 2009. She has taught voice, drama, stage makeup and musical theater, as well as been a vocal or assistant director for over a dozen CYT productions since 2012. Her favorite role has been playing “Mrs. Meers” in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” with CCT in 2013.
