Set in New York City circa 1899, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! Join us for this fictional retelling of the historic first strike ever carried out by kids!

From the Directing Team:
To All Who Auditioned for Newsies,
We were blown away by the excellence we saw this weekend. As so many of you know, we are acutely aware of how emotionally taxing this weekend can be for both cast members and their loved ones. By simply showing up on Friday night, you exhibited courage and for that, you should be so proud.
As a team who have all spent time on the other side of the table both in and out of CYT, you have our blessing and our encouragement to feel your feelings and process them. We just encourage you to do so with kindness and respect for those around you. We’ve been praying for all of you.
For those we were unable to cast- thank you for kicking off your Spring with commitment and enthusiasm. You will be receiving some feedback in the coming weeks. We mean it when we say you are all welcome in any of our audition rooms again. We would love to work with you.
For those cast- Welcome. Despite the long weekend, the work has barely begun. (But the same goes for the fun!) We will see you next weekend for our first full cast rehearsal. We expect you on time and ready to create. We’ve got a big story to tell so please start circling it in prayer. Somebody needs to hear this one.
Welcome, Newsies! We’ve got a banner to carry.
Seizing the Day,
Ben, Alex, Mrs. Mayo, Anna, and Taylor
