Class Description
Power up your vocals! This is the first step to singing like a professional. Learning the fundamental basics of breathing for singing will not only increase your ability to control your voice but also improve your vocal sound significantly. Correct posture, breathing, projection, diction, control of the support muscles and relaxed phonation will be developed extensively in this class.
Rachel McDermott has been teaching and directing for CYT for many years. She has taught several vocal and musical theater classes and has also been vocal director for Charlotte’s Web, School House Rock Jr., Narnia, Christmas Carol, Wizard of Oz, Tall Tales, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Hairspray and High School Musical, Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland. She was an elementary school music teacher in Chicago for 6 years and received her BA in Music Education with a minor in Piano Pedagogy at Judson University. Her favorite things include playing piano, penguins, the color purple, sewing, and nachos!!
