Are you looking for a way to take your acting skills to a whole new level? Then this is the class for you! Incorporating dance into your theater training helps you to be more mentally alert, and focused. When you’re agile and responsive, you will move freely and be better able to use your imagination to become more expressive. Dance will put you at ease with your body and physicality, which will, in turn, help you become more comfortable in both auditions and live performances. Dance will give you the power to communicate with a more natural ease and expression. The ability to create your character and have different emotions and attitudes in a scene is part of your actor’s toolbox. Dance will help you to convey these emotions through your body with ease. Join us and feel more empowered as an actor!

Kristi Lee Peterson is a seasoned singer/dancer/actor and has performed in numerous community and professional theater productions for over 30 years. She has taught dance for the Harlem School Districts Fine Arts Program, Rockford College (now Rockford University), Rockford Dance Company and as owner/director of Danceworks & More. She has also choreographed numerous school and community productions throughout the State-line area. Kristi began teaching with Christian Youth Theater after her daughter became involved in her first production, and has been happily inspiring creativity in her students ever since. Most recently she had the opportunity to be the Assistant Director for CYT’s Aladdin JR, which was performed at the beautiful Coronado Theater. During the day Kristi works for RPS205, and spends her free time listening to musical soundtracks, snuggling with her three fur babies, and traveling the world.
