Class Description

Explore the differences between traditional forms of theater and reader’s theater and develop your storytelling skills. Learn the methods used in reader’s theater, including interpreting literature for an audience and using vivid vocal and physical actions, and learn how to transfer those skills to traditional theater!

If we have to transition to online classes during the session, this class will not continue. Families will be given the option to either transfer to one of a certain selection of classes or receive a prorated refund.

Alana Becker

Alana started CYT Chicago in 1998, with her first drama class.  In 2010, she interned with Overshadowed Theatrical Productions where she began choreographing.  Alana has taken dance classes since the age of seven, and feels privileged to have choreographed over 25 productions with CYT, Overshadowed Theatrical Productions, Schaumburg Christian School, Harvest Christian Academy, and Heritage Hall Christian School in Muncie, IN.  Alana has worked with Schaumburg Christian School as their Speech Teacher, Speech Coach, and Director.  Under her direction, Schaumburg Christian School won 1st place for Speech in the IL Association of Christian Schools in 2016.  Having been certified as a Youth Worker in the UK, Alana is grateful to have the opportunity to keep working with students at CYT in a fun filled environment.  Alana is also thankful to be working at the CYT Chicago office where she is able to give back to a community who influenced her so greatly.
