Teacher:

Rachel Waterman

Rachel Waterman grew up as a missionary kid in the Philippines, studying ballet and performing in plays, musicals, and singing groups, along with choreographing all her high school musicals. Her passion for theater and ministry led her to earn her Bachelors degree in Theatre Arts at Huntington University. Rachel then served as a missionary to international schools in Seoul, South Korea (1998-2002) and Bogotá, Colombia (1994, 2005-06), teaching and directing a variety of courses and shows. She has continued her education since college, earning graduate credits in education and regularly taking dance classes in a variety of styles. In 2006, she began learning how to incorporate worship tools such as fabrics, flags, streamers, etc. into dance pieces through a worship dance ministry at her church, Blanchard Alliance (now Wellspring) in Wheaton, IL. Rachel now leads the flourishing Movement Arts ministry. After searching for ways to combine theatre and ministry in the US, she discovered CYT-Chicago in 2007 and began teaching in Dupage county. She continues to teach regularly in Dupage and Aurora counties and has served in various roles on directing teams in multiple counties since 2008. Rachel loves CYT so much, she eagerly works summer camps and even performed as a Hot Box dancer (alongside students and co-workers) in the summer production of "Guys and Dolls" a few years ago.
