Class Description

Do you have a passion for dance and want to learn how to teach others? This class will open your eyes to how "5,6,7,8" can turn into a standing ovation! In this class learn to choreograph for musical theater and the difference between choreographing for solo, group and recital pieces. Learn how to effectively teach choreography for a dance class, camp, or simply learn basic fundamentals of choreographing for the stage. This class is best suited for students with dance experience who are interested in future teaching and choreography opportunities and will perform dance as well as learning to choreograph for classmates.


Sarah Martin

Sarah Martin has been a part of CYT since 2006! She performed in over 20 shows and was a part of the Aurora Project Dance team for 4 years. She has her bachelors degree in psychology with a dance minor from North Central College and is currently working on her masters degree in child and adolescent mental health counseling. She currently teaches dance at the Naperville Park District and Ultimate Dance on the Move where she teaches ages 18 months-adult. She also coaches several competition dance teams along with teaching at CYT. She also works at an inner city church in Chicago as an elementary school leader. She loves getting to work with new students and seeing old students grow in their talents and abilities. She can't wait to work with your student and get to share her love for theater and Christ with them!
