This advanced class is designed for students who have completed at least three sessions of training in dance technique. The curriculum moves quickly and is meant for students who are ready for increasingly challenging combinations while adding musicality, artistry, and choreography to their technique. Students will take on more demanding steps and complex sequences of movement. This class focuses on advanced barre work, center exercises, across the floor combinations, and ballet variations. Students will explore their creativity and enhance their artistry by creating some of their own choreography in addition to the pieces choreographed by the instructor. Discipline, technique, professionalism, teamwork, and dedication will all be key elements of this class.

Christie began her journey with CYT when she was just 9 years old as a student in CYT San Diego. After performing with CYT San Diego for four years, her family moved to Chicagoland. Her parents were the ones to bring CYT here to Chicago! After performing with CYT Chicago for several years, Christie stepped into teaching and directing. She has been teaching for CYT for almost 20 years! Head directing credits include The Wizard of Oz (Kane/NWCook), Pocahontas (Lake), Beauty and the Beast (Kane/NW Cook), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Kane), Annie (Kane), The Music Man (McHenry), Footloose (All County), and Bye Bye Birdie (NW Cook). Christie has her BA in Elementary Education from Judson University and has spent the last ten years as a creative arts director and music teacher in area schools. She is a proud parent of five children, two of whom are CYT students! She loves CYT and the mission to reflect Christ in the performing arts! It's all about Jesus!
