Class Description

Students will learn to create a believable and imaginative character that will be memorable on stage. Students will work on developing a character’s back story and be challenged to become the character. Improve facial expression, character voices and audition techniques. Apply what you have learned to scenes that will be performed in showcase!

Kristi Peterson

Kristi Lee Peterson is a seasoned singer/dancer/actor and has performed in numerous community and professional theater productions for over 30 years. She has taught dance for the Harlem School Districts Fine Arts Program, Rockford College (now Rockford University), Rockford Dance Company and as owner/director of Danceworks & More. She has also choreographed numerous school and community productions throughout the State-line area. Kristi began teaching with Christian Youth Theater after her daughter became involved in her first production, and has been happily inspiring creativity in her students ever since. Most recently she had the opportunity to be the Assistant Director for CYT’s Aladdin JR, which was performed at the beautiful Coronado Theater. During the day Kristi works as an Office Professional for RPS205, teaches a drama club at RESA, and organizes the annual RESA’s GOT TALENT show. ​​​​​​​
