Class Description

In this intensive class, actors will do a deep dive study of theory with a goal of application in advanced monologues.  Acting at its’ core can be simple. In this class we will learn the hows, whats and whys of advanced acting so that, as actors, you can harness the simple to make deep character connections and authentic performances for your audience.

If we have to transition away from in-person learning during the session, this class will continue online via live instruction and through the use of digital media.

Chip Root

I know many of you, or your kids, from having been a CYT parent for 7+ years, but for those that don’t know me, my name is Chip Root and I will be spending this session helping your kids travel into the Renaissance and Elizabethan England as we bring Shakespearean theatre to life. In addition to being a CYT parent, I have been in IT management for many years, and work in that capacity at Awana Clubs International, based in the northwest suburbs. Personally, I began acting in early childhood in a youth theater program. I continued learning the arts as a theatre major in college, and after many years of not using those skills, God provided CYT as an answer to prayer. It has been a give to be able to teach and direct a number of classes and shows. Simply said, this organization has been a blessing to me, personally, and to my family, and I look forward to this session as we study, and perform, the work of the Bard.
