Description

Psalm 150 says, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!" That is exactly what we will do in this two-session audition class. Building on the foundation of singing as worship to the Giver of the gift, students will focus on vocal skills and abilities and be challenged with more difficult sight singing exercises, technique training, and musical comprehension. Students are expected to be able to hold their own parts and properly blend when singing in duets, trios, and small groups. More challenging pieces will be used and performed in this class. This advanced class is a wonderful opportunity for the serious vocalist!

There will be an all-area, one day event on June 15th to come together and celebrate all that was learned!  The fee for MusicFest in June is added to this registration and will be refunded if the student does not make the team.

** Please Note: **
  • 150 classes are a two-session commitment.
  • Participation in this class is through audition only.
  • There must be a minimum of 8 participants for this class to run.
Auditions: November 20th at 5 to 6:30pm at Church on The Rock

Teacher:

Joanna Nagle

Joanna Nagle has had a deep love and sense of belonging in music since she played the flute for the first time in fourth grade. Beyond grade school and junior high band, she involved herself heavily in the choir program at her alma mater Saint Viator High School, achieving the Senior Award for Excellent Achievement in Concert Choir as well as in the Chamber Singers ensemble. After that, she took some music and education classes at North Central College, participating in their choral program as well as taking lessons and performing as a classical soloist. She currently runs a private voice studio where she coaches individual students to grow in their singing and assists them with auditions, callbacks, recitals, and other material. She has taught for CYT since 2020 in counties NW Cook, Kane, and Lake. She has been the vocal director for Kane/McHenry's Tarzan, Godspell, Into the Woods Junior, and Newsies and Kenosha/Lake's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She is also the Project Voice Coach for the Kane branch. Joanna, though never herself taking classes or partaking in shows with CYT, knows CYT's commitment to excellence in theatrical/musical skill as well as their dedication to glorifying the Lord through these gifts. She absolutely loves working with all of her students and is thrilled to share her passion for music and teaching at CYT!
