Musical Theater 2 for Teens- Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (ages 12 - 18)

Pre-requisite: 2 Classes in Dance, Drama, Voice or Musical Theater
Don''t miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to sharpen your skills as a versatile actor, singer, and dancer. Get insight on musical theatre through the years and the differences between specific styles of shows and then showcase those differences in a variety of musical numbers and scenes. Gain new confidence, energy and emotional honesty while perfecting your performance technique. Explore solos, duets, small group scenes, and large ensemble numbers from a variety of genres. Get ready to broaden your horizons as a triple threat.

Pre-requisite: 2 dance classes & audition
For seasoned students, Project Dance is a 3 session progressive dance journey. Students will receive intense training in technique and raise the bar on their dance performance. The goal of PD is to elevate the quality of dance training in CYT by creating a community of dedicated students and teachers who want to use their talents to glorify God through the art form of various dance styles. Students are encouraged to attend a summer Project Dance Camp offering workshops and a dance concert.
This is an audition only class. You must register for a second choice. You will be enrolled in your second choice class and switched to Project Dance after auditions. Auditions will be held the first night of class.

Whether you sing in your church choir, along with Rock Band, or just in the shower, singing can be fun! Learn how to put those pipes to use with good technique and style. In this interactive class students will learn the fundamental concepts and training of the voice. Learn proper posture and breathing techniques, phrasing and how to stay on pitch. Comedy 1 for Kids (ages 9 - 11)
Teacher: Sherry Gettig
Whether you feel like you are a natural comedian or enjoy telling puns, embark on the rules of comedy. Come play with us as we learn what makes something funny on stage…and what doesn’t. Learn the classic bits and gags and how to execute them. Experiment with a variety of comic characters, discover your individual attributes and strengths, and create your own unique repertoire of characters within the context of various comedic monologues. So come join the club, and let’s “make ‘em laugh”.
Drama 3 for Kids/Teens - One Act (ages 10 - 14)

Pre-requisite: 2 drama or musical theater classes & audition
Expand your characterization and delve deeper into the world of acting. Discover how to create a dynamic character and bring the story alive. Using improv, drama games, and open scenes, students will learn how to find a character arc, incorporate environment, make strong creative choices and use sensory recall in creative believable scenes. All will present a one act production at the end of the session using their new skills.

Voice 2 for Teens (ages 12 - 18)

Pre-requisite: 1 voice class & 1 musical theater class
Challenge yourself with this higher level of vocal instruction. You will explore developing your character through song with staying true to your vocal technique. Specialty 704 - Stomp 2 for Teens (ages 12 - 18)

Engage your voice, hands and body in creating stomp sounds & instruments. Turn “junk” into instruments in this advanced class while creating complex rhythms. Grab your partner and dance on over. This class will get you tear; it up in the middle of the dance floor with your partner in no time! Jump into basic skills of partnering that apply to all styles of Ballroom dance. You’ll learn the basics of Foxtrot, Rumba, Salsa, Cha Cha, Swing, Tango, and more! And most importantly, we will focus on developing a strong sense of trust and commitment so that you can always approach a new partner with confidence—no matter what song they’re playing. Ballroom shoes or Character shoes are recommended.
